As the ISO standards become more popular, well-established companies tend to implement more than one standard in their organization. They understood the benefits of integration, so they were often come up with some innovative solutions to integrate their management systems. But the major challenge was that these standards had different structures and functions. 

Considering this, ISO decided to develop their standards with a common 10 clauses structure called Annex SL which replaces the historical ISO guide 83 structure. In 2015, we had ISO 9001 and 14001 with the same structure as below. Any ISO standard after that should have the same structure.
